100 Day Spending Ban | Week 1 Update

One week has gone, did I break any rules?  What have I learnt?

1.  A Recap

My rules:
  • No spending on ANY make up or skin care.  No exceptions.  I do welcome free gifts or samples though.  Note: during this span I shall have at least 3 Glamaboxes coming in, so that can keep me entertained!
  • Every single day I survive this ban, I will put HK $100 into my Fun Fund.  When the ban is over, I can treat myself well (perhaps some Burberry or Guerlain make up??).  :D
  • My 100 Day Spending Ban starts on 1st of April and shall end on 9th of July.

2.  Fun Fund (Week 1: 1-7 April)

$700 - $100
= $600

Breaking the ban:

On day 3 I broke the ban once.  I received an email from Glamabox promoting their DIY box re-launch.  I bought one of those last time and I really enjoyed it (my post here).  So, immediately, on my iPad, with just a few clicks, I paid with Paypal and off went $376 - yea, I didn't got 1, but bought 2 boxes.  I will do a more detailed post later - together with my previous GlamaEvent haul... The picture above is a sneak peak at what my two boxes are like...

3. Lesson Learnt

Marketing, promotional emails are dangerous, especially when electronic payment is that easy to make.  Stay away from clicking into those links!

4. Wants or Wishes

I will write these down weekly, and after the 100 day spending ban I will look back and see what I really will buy.  I suppose this is a good way to see how unnecessary some of my desires are!?

- Guerlain Eyeshadow Base
- Pupa Diamond Eyeshadow
- Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector
- Lavshuca Dramatic Memory Rouge - PK1 and PK2
- MAC MSF Natural - Light and Light Plus

Other updates:

1.  I received a new phone for Easter from Mr. A, replacing my WhiteBerry.  It is a Sony Xperia TX.  Not a very new model, but it serves me well.  Although Xperia cannot compete my ex-Blackberry in terms of email handling and typing, I don't mind.  I now mainly check and reply to emails on my iPad (which was also a gift from Mr. A last Summer).  My new phone makes instagramming so much easier, and the Xperia cameras, the main one and the front small one are really nice.  I am loving it!

2.  Have you read my Lunableu haul yet?  Winner of the giveaway has been announced there.

3.  Google Reader will be phased out in two months time, if you do not want to miss my future posts, or any other blogs you are following, alternative methods are required.  I suggest you try out Bloglovin, Facebook and Google+.  I am on all three of them, and they are good ways to keep connected to blogs/bloggers and new posts.  Of course there is also an option of Twitter, which I sometimes find difficult to keep track of everyone, as I probably follow too many people?

4.  Later this month I will be attempting a blog sale, again, probably.  I'm sorting out products and waiting the Sun to come out for photographing.  At the mean time, feel free to have a sneak peak (facebook album).

5.  Project 10 Pan with Sam is officially over.  I may do a separate update on that later (or maybe not).  I used up 6 items, tossed 1, and 3 I can't finish.  In short, I won, and Sam will be sending me a prize box.  Thanks Sam!

6.  Inspired by Australian blogger Makeup and Macaroons, I will do a product directory of some sort.  Right now I'm making a page of make up items, and a google spreadsheet of all skincare items.  It is quite a task and I'll let you know when it's ready.

7.  Learnt about a giant blog platform called Paperblog, they cover every single topic under the sky and it is so impressively massive.  Go take a look of it.  It is pretty addictive.

Paperblog

8.  Got connected with a bunch of lovely HK bloggers recently, and our whatsapp chat has been non-stop!  Check out these ladies' blogs, they are cool! Hakme/Jess, Jenni, Dorothy, and Winsome.  :D  We're planning beauty chat-swap-meetups later this month and if we do, I'll definitely report back how much fun we have.

9.  I realise that I might have been swap-lifted. Not once, but twice in the month of March.  If those two parcels are not coming in in the coming week, I most likely have been.  It sucked to be robbed.  Of course I do love doing swaps, sending and receiving goodies with near-strangers or blogger-friends, but the sorrow of losing money and being cheated just make me feel not worth it.  I do have a facebook group of genuine ladies that I will lay my trust on though.  It is a private gang of over 100 beauty lovers, thanks Noire for the invitation.  ;)  From now on, I will not be doing any random swaps with people whom I have never swapped with before.

Thank you for reading!  Check out Blog of Shadows for a list of other blogs who're doing the 100 day spending ban also~
